FOBANA new executive chairperson Mohammad Alamgir, secretary Abir Alamgir

The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA) new committee has been elected. Mohammad Alamgir (Virginia) has been elected as the chairperson, and Abir Alamgir (New York) has been elected as the executive secretary of the new committee for 2023-24. The election was held after the Annual General Meeting on the last day of the 37th FOBANA Convention held at the Irving Convention Center in Dallas on September 1, 2, and 3. The election was conducted by Chief Election Commissioner Mahbub Reza Rahim (Arizona) and Election Commissioner Duke Khan (Atlanta). North America Voters representing 55 member organizations in 22 cities voted to form a new executive committee for the following year.

The winningly elected members of the Central Executive Committee are, respectively – Chairperson Mohammad Alamgir (Virginia), Vice Chairperson Masood Rob Chowdhury (California), Executive Secretary Abir Alamgir (New York), Joint Executive Secretary Khaled Rauf (Chicago), Treasurer Priyalal Karmakar (Maryland). The outstanding members are- Former Chairperson Dr. Ahsan Chowdhury Hero (Austin), Former Executive Secretary Nahidul Khan Sahel (Atlanta), Convener of the recently concluded Convention Hasmat Mobin (Dallas), Member Secretary of the recently completed Convention Shamsuddoha Sagar (Dallas) and ATM Alam (Washington). DC), Mohammad Dilu Mawla (Georgia), Rehan Reza (Kansas), Saeed Ahsan (Illinois) and Zainal Abedin (Los Angeles).

Bangla Dhara (Atlanta, Georgia) has been selected as the host organization for the 39th FOBANA conference in 2025. The 38th FOBANA conference will be held in Washington, DC in 2024. Bangladesh Association of Greater Washington DC was selected as the host organization at the Chicago conference last year.
