Charles B. Wang Community Health Center Announces Good Health Day Events

[NEW YORK, NY, July 24, 2024] — The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center (CBWCHC) hosted
local press, community partners, and sponsors at its newest location 131-72 40th Road Flushing, Queens, Wednesday to preview the Health Center’s 2024 Good Health Day events. These annual summer health fairs are the Health Center’s signature event and will be held on Saturday, August 3, at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Lower Manhattan (Grand Street and Chrystie Street) and on Saturday, August 10 in Flushing, Queens, at 136-26 37th Avenue. Both events will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. “The very first Chinatown Health Fair in 1971 has evolved into the current Health Center with six locations across Lower Manhattan and Flushing, Queens,” said Kaushal Challa, CEO of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. “We’re still excited to engage with our community and offer free activities and health services 53 years later through our annual Good Health Day events.” A staple event in the community, Good Health Day empowers community members with the knowledge and encouragement to take charge of their health. The events will offer free health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, BMI, and more! There will also be health education activities, health and social services resources, health insurance information and registration assistance, and entertainment for the entire family. “Primary care is the core of what we do because access to primary care has the most significant effect on community health,” said Dr. Nuna Kim, the Health Center’s Chief Medical Officer. “This year, we are thrilled to share that our Primary Eye Care services, which currently serves patients at our 125 Walker street location, will now be expanding to our new Flushing location on 40th Road. This will help fill in the need of high-quality optometry services to patients of all ages beginning this summer.”

More than 50 health care and social service organizations will participate with local vendors to provide health awareness information, children’s activities, and entertainment. The events at both locations will
offer Zumba, a CPR demonstration, and tai chi performed by New York Yang Sheng Tai Chi Qi Gong Corp.
